You Might Be Wondering:
Basically it goes in both directions -- you should always be cautious with browser extensions, as they can potentially access more information than you'd like. Our open source version is available so that you can see how the extension itself works -- what it does, and just as importantly, what it doesn't do. In the open source version you can do basically everything the extension itself can do (if you install it yourself and include your own API key).
If you make a free account you will be using the Ai Aux platform for the additional features that an extension alone cannot provide -- even easier setup (no need to bring your own API key), and the features that we are building out that include security and logging, establishing additional filters and rules to help structure the generated responses, etc.
Great question -- since we're in beta release, we're working towards that right now, and focused on building out the core feature set and gaining as much product feedback and learning as possible. Our target is to expand the free feature set through Q4 of 2023, and transition to paid accounts starting in 2024. At this point we are planning on keeping free accounts available, even if paid accounts are enabled.
All data through AiAux is encrypted in motion and at rest. Your prompts/queries are subject to the privacy and terms of the providers we work with for AI/LLM output.
As of August 2023 we are utilizing ChatGPT 3.5 as our AI provider API, but plan to enable additional LLMs and APIs to choose from as we scale, including hosting open source LLMs that you can train on your own.
